There is a large group of people who watch the Super Bowl for the competition between the NFL's top two teams, and then there are the rest of us who enjoy the commercials just as much as the action on the field. The Cheeto's commercials were interesting to say the least, and I did enjoy Bridgestone's "Carma" involving a concerned woodland creature (search YouTube for "Carma" and it will come right up). But the commercial I was surprised with was Chrysler LLC's use of Eminem in pitching the new Chrysler 200. Judging by the reaction the advertisement received I wasn't the only person surprised...but it was in a good way.
During a time when so many have forgotten that Detroit was the motor city capitol of the world not too long ago, three words struck a chord with me IMPORTED FROM DETROIT. It was a bold statement in a commercial containing a bold figure who made his life in Detroit, and I still remember it which is the most important thing in advertising...to stick in a persons mind. Although sales for the new Chrysler 200 have been lackluster in the past month, the gas crunch is only beginning so I believe we will see the numbers slowly start to climb.
