Mustang Heading to Sprint Cup?
According to ESPN, Ford Racing has submitted the Mustang for approval to race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2013. Now starts the lengthy debate as to whether or not it will be fair to the competition, or if Ford's pony will have an edge up on the competition. Understandably Ford wants to get a product on the field so when they win on Sunday they can sell on Monday. Ford is already racing the Mustang in the Nationwide Series to which is has received a lot of positive feedback, and with the other changes on the horizon (fuel injection in 2012) what could it hurt if the Mustang joins the Sprint Cup? Dodge already has the Challenger in Nationwide and it will certainly follow the Mustang into the Sprint Cup if that works out so...all we are waiting for is a new contender from Chevrolet and Toyota.

I understand ford wanting to have their flagship car as the sprint car. To me it is completely a marketing discussion, as"stock car" racing was designed to make the race cars as close to an equal playing field as possible. So whether it is the mustang, taurus, or fusion it makes no difference to me. I just want to see Ford racing in victory lane!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see any promotions for Mustang.... reminds me of the "good ole days".... AND the good new days at Ford
